19./20. August 2017: Wiederum haben sich nahezu 100 freiwillige Helfer zur achten Ausgabe unseres alljährlichen, legendären Clean Up Day am Morgen zur Registration und Briefing versammelt. Nach einer kurzen Ansprache seitens der IG Magic Wood durften die Teilnehmer in allen Sektoren im Magic Wood Müll einsammeln sowie Magnesiaspuren beseitigen. Weiter wurde alles entlang der Strasse von den alten Schmelzöfen bis Dorfeingangs Ferrera von Müll und anderem Unrat befreit, sodass am Ende des Tages wieder eine beträchtliche Menge an Abfall zusammen kam.
Eine kleine Gruppe musste für das nicht erscheinen der Eiskletterer in die Bresche springen. Da unser Clean Up Day sowieso schon beachtliches Ausmass angenommen hat, wurde die Reinigungsaktion auf die Eisfälle ausgedehnt und wir hoffen dies in den nächsten Jahren weiter auszubauen. Nächstes mal hoffentlich auch mit dem Einen oder Anderen Eiskletterer.
Wie eigentlich immer, war der Tag nicht vom Sonnenschein geprägt. Regen gabs zwar in kleinen Mengen am Morgen früh, Zwischendurch sowie später in der Nacht. Feucht ist aber besser zum aufräumen, da klettern in den Hintergrund rückt.
Pünktlich um 19 Uhr wurde Preisverteilung vorgenommen. Wie immer fanden die Teilnehmer einen grosszügigen Gabentisch vor. Somit konnte alles noch vor Einbruch der Dunkelheit verteilt werden und gleichzeitig die Grillade in Angriff genommen werden. Effizient konnte die hungrigen Mäuler gefüttert werden und danach alles für das Konzert aufgebaut werden.
Auf das anschliessende Konzert von „She and the Junkies“ haben wir gerne ein Jahr gewartet. Die Jungs heizten so richtig ein und liessen die Strapazen bei Trank und Tanz bis nach Mitternacht vergessen.
Am Sonntag stand dann der 1. Magic Wood Charity Boulder Event an. Die Teilnehmer konnten einen freiwilligen Betrag als Startgeld and ClimbAID.org spenden und dann je nach Schwierigkeits-Kategorie verschiedene Boulder im Magic Wood erklimmen. Hier ist der Start noch zäh angelaufen und wir hoffen nächstes Jahr mehr Leute dazu zu motivieren an diesem Plausch Event teilzunehmen. Die Gewinner waren schnell ermittelt und die Preise gingen komplett an Paola Radiere and Mattia Rossi aus Italien. Wir gratulieren den beiden und danken für ihre Teilnahme und Spende. Am Ende vom Tag kamen so für ClimbAID.org CHF 140.- Franken zusammen, welche von Bodhi Climbing verdoppelt wurden. Somit dürfen wir insgesamt CHF 280.- an ClimbAID.org zur Hilfe an ihr Lebanon Projekt überweisen.
Wie immer blicken wir auf ein herrliches Wochenende im Magic Wood zurück und freuen uns schon jetzt auf das nächste Jahr.

20. August 2016: Again almost 100 volunteers meet to join the legendary event of the
annual clean up day in the morning .
After a short briefing from the IG Magic Wood the volunteers headed out to clean up all the
sectors and also remove tick-marks. Further more, the team cleaned up all the way along
the street, from the old melting furnace to the entrance of the village Ausserferrera. As a
result we collected again a fair amount of trash.
Since our Clean Up Day reached already a fair dimension, we extended to clean up at the
ice falls-area in the valley and hope to develop it further, together with ice climbers in the
future. As for the present, a small group of volunteers had to fill the gap for the ice climbers
who didn’t showed up as promised.
Later on exactly at 7pm the prizes giving was held. As always our volunteers found a
generous table of goodies from our sponsors. Therefore we could give out all the prizes
before nightfall and at the same time the BBQ was prepared and everyone were well fed.
Efficiently we could arrange everything for the live band later on.
For the upcoming concert of "She and the Junkies" was awesome, the band kept the fire
burning. And we forgot about the extortions of the day with drinks and dancing until past
midnight.
Actually the day was not as sunny as we hoped. Rain came in small amounts in the
morning and between, as well as later at night. But everything went so well with the co-
operation of all our volunteers together with Bodhi Climbing team, we can call it a great
day after all.
On Sunday we held the 1st Magic Wood Charity Boulder Event. The participants could
spend a free-will donation as starting fee and climb after on the boulders at Magic Wood
based on their level and fitness. The start of the event was rather chewy and we hope to
motivate more people next year.
The winners were ascertained fast and all the prizes went straight to Paola Radiere and
Mattia Rossi from Italy.
Thank you for your participation and charity. At the end of the day we could collect CHF
140.- for ClimbAID.org. Bodhi Climbing doubled the charity amount to a total sum of CHF
280.-, which goes directly to the Lebanon project of ClimbAID.org.
Like always we look back to some wonderful days at Magic Wood and we are already
looking forward to next years event.
